Guidance Counselor


  • Create and manage students' schedules as well as track progress toward graduation for a 9th-12th caseload (approximately 400 students).
  • Enroll new students.
  • Collaborate with middle school staff to help 8th graders transition to high school.
  • Provide support services for students based on observations, conversations, and evaluations.
  • Follow the Michigan Comprehensive Guidance Model (i.e. academic, career, and social/emotional guidance).
  • Work collaboratively with staff, especially counseling department and administration.
  • Counsel students on college and career planning as well as the college application process.
  • Serve on a variety of committees such as Child Study Team, Advisory, etc.
  • High level of communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and positively with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Master degree in school counseling.
  • Valid Elementary or Secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate with school counseling endorsement.
