Position Details: 

Location:                        Lakeshore Public Schools, Stevensville, MI  49127

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Michigan School Social Worker License
  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW).
  • Proactive member of MTSS process in decision-making and addressing needs of all students in Tiers 1, 2 & 3.
  • Ability to develop and implement behavior intervention plans, classroom management systems, and reinforcement systems.
  • Ability to use effective instructional strategies and techniques for at-risk learners.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of progress monitoring systems based on student data.


  • Partner in the development of a school-wide culture and learning climate that supports students with learning disabilities, emotional impairments, cognitive impairments, behavioral support needs, or struggle in the learning environment as a result of being an at-risk learner.
  • Lead team process to develop, implement, consult, and monitor individual behavior plans throughout the entire school environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow school social workers, counselors, general education teachers, special education teachers, and building principal to contribute to the establishment of an optimal learning environment.
  • Provide individual and group support and counseling for children with social, emotional and/or behavior needs.
  • Serve as consult to teachers in need of engagement, motivation, and behavior adaptation strategies to increase achievement of students.
  • Engage in school and district teams focused on the social, emotional and behavioral well being of all students.
  • Build relationships with families in an effort to communicate proactively and prevent problems.
  • Assist families in their pursuit of community services as needed.
  • Participate in the child study process.
  • Provide consultation to teachers on how to address social, emotional, and/or behavioral concerns in the classroom, and coordinate action plans.
  • Observe classrooms, maintain follow-ups, and coaching (non-evaluative).
  • Conduct Check-in/Check-out interventions.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) meetings.
  • Become certified in TCI (nonviolent crisis intervention).
  • Write, implement, track data, and follow up on behavior plans.
  • Conduct initial and reevaluations to determine eligibility for special education.
  • Regular contact with staff members and parents required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
