Position Details: 

Location:        Lakeshore Public Schools, Stevensville, MI  49127

Job Goal:  

  • Work with identified ELL students to provide English language arts instruction.
  • Provide ESL instruction, support content instruction for English Language Learners (ELLs) and provide consultation to general education teachers who have ELLs enrolled in their classrooms.  



  • Valid Michigan teacher certificate.
  • ESL or Bilingual endorsement.
  • Must meet Highly Qualified requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Able to follow all local, state, and federal guidelines for the Title III support services.


Professional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instructs students to improve English language proficiency and support content instruction.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule
  • Plans effective lessons based on the student’s language proficiency and academic needs.
  • Collaborates with teachers and other school staff regarding best practices to support ELL students.
  • Compiles and maintains student records, written reports, and other materials for district and ESL documentation.
  • Assesses and monitors students’ progress (screening tests, WIDA testing).
  • Communicates regularly with staff and parents regarding students’ needs and progress.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment and supplies for
  • Assists in planning training for staff and information for parents.
  • Serves as a resource to school staff for EL students.
  • Works closely and meets regularly with paraprofessional.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
