Job Description:
• Provide instruction support/consultation for those students needing services including student/teacher contact as indicated in the student’s
IEP.
• Participate in the initial evaluation for special education or termination of services for special education
• Gather necessary paperwork including documentation on interventions and accommodations that have been put in place for the student
leading up to the evaluation or termination
• Administer achievement testing or other assigned evaluations to the student
• Observe the student along with other staff to provide observations across settings
• Gather general education input
• In writing, summarize test results, observations and teacher input
• Attend MET/IEP meetings and report findings
• Follow up with general education staff when students do not qualify for services
• Participate in the school’s problem solving process
• Recommending evidence based strategies for supporting students
• Support teachers in implementing interventions
• Documenting use of interventions
• Participate in progress monitoring process in the building
• Consult with special education and general education teacher on curriculum and instruction for special education and at risk students
• Complete monthly Medicaid billing as appropriate
• Advise the Special Education Administration on curriculum, policy and programming issues
• Complete year-end reports as requested by administration
• Support the transition process for new students entering the building
• Test Accommodations Coordinator including scheduling and proctoring state testing

Start Date: August 2018

Minimum Qualifications: Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education. A strong desire to work
with special education students. Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with teachers cross all grade levels. Familiarity with course content standards and expectations. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology. Must meet Highly Qualified requirements as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.

Preferred Qualifications:Proven classroom management techniques. The ability to relate positively and communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Strong organizational skills.
