Job Summary:  Oversee and supervise all aspects related to the daily functions and operations of a middle school building while ensuring that the educational process is meeting and/or exceeding the needs of all concerned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and coordinate the educational needs of all regular and special education programs to reflect the high standards and expectations of the district.
  • Promote and support the design, delivery and evaluation of instruction.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the parents of students and act as problem solving agent when concerns arise.
  • Supervise the hiring, evaluation and retention of all faculty and staff members to develop them, and to assess the effectiveness and performance of these employees.
  • To oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of the building and surrounding campus, keeping the safety and health of all that enter as top priority.
  • To maintain and supervise all financial and budget matters related to the building.
  • Participate in the District administrative team.
  • Supervise co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • To plan, coordinate and supervise the scheduling of all classes and teaching assignments in the building.
  • Plan and facilitate weekly staff meetings and staff development, attend principal and administrative team meetings, IEP meetings, shared decision making team meetings, and PTO meetings.
  • Promote and market the school district to prospective residents via tours, building performance achievement and district achievement.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree with at least 20 hours of coursework in Educational Leadership and at least three years teaching experience at the Middle School level, five years preferred.
  • Ability to effectively retrieve, analyze, use and communicate data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable in effective methods of instruction.
  • Experience as a Principal or Assistant Principal preferred

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Administrative Certification (to be kept updated)
  • Secondary and/or Middle School Certification
