Over the past few years the Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools has made significant adjustments to the programs and services we provide to students.  We have created a continuum of interventions and programs that have resulted in positive increases in local and state assessments.  Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools is an innovative and caring school district where all students learn and grow. 

 

Position Summary:

The elementary principal is the chief administrator of the elementary school program and building.  The administrator provides instructional leadership to staff including curriculum planning, review and implementation and professional development.  The administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations including the safety and welfare of students and staff.  The administrator shall ensure a safe, pleasant and effective educational atmosphere, providing discipline as necessary to enforce school/district policy. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee all building school improvement and accreditation activities (if applicable) and reports (Annual Report, SIP, Title I). 
  • Encourage teachers to develop program and methods of teaching in accordance with elementary school philosophy to ensure the effectiveness of the learner outcomes. 
  • Work with teachers in providing a classroom and school atmosphere that maximizes learning opportunities for kids. 
  • Prepare various statistical and other report as they relate to matters of attendance, enrollment, student drills, etc. as required by State law and special reports required by the local district. 
  • Supervise and assist in evaluation and assignment of learners to special programs and facilities. 
  • Provide for performance appraisals/evaluations, corrective counseling, constructive discipline, grievance handling, problem resolution and assignment(s) of work. 
  • Assist teachers in establishing meaningful goals, objective and evaluation procedures and related to education enhancement.
  • Provide for, attend and participate in continuous cooperative curriculum revision, design, implementation and evaluation with the Superintendent, curriculum committees and teaching staff. 
  • Supervise, participate and/or facilitate special education tasks including child study process and behavioral plans; ensure compliance of Federal mandates/IDEA.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility efficient and effective utilization of resources and the proper accountability for revenues and expenditures in Title I and general funds.
  • Exercise administrative discretion fairly showing due respect, concern and warmth for others and an understanding of cultural differences and individual problems of both students and adults. 
  • Lead in the development of strategies and interventions for increased student achievement and growth.
  • Foster staff morale to reinforce and celebrate successful performance of all staff and students.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively and maintain positive relations with Central Office administrative colleagues, staff, students, parent, parent groups. School volunteers and outside agencies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Salary and Benefits:

$74,000 annual salary (220 work days).
