The Waterford School District Board of Education is seeking a superintendent to succeed Dr. Keith Wunderlich. This is a remarkable opportunity to lead an outstanding school district in Oakland County. Waterford School District maintains an operating budget of over $100M and has a positive fund balance. The District serves a student population of over 9,000 students in 17 schools.
 
Waterford School District offers high quality 21st century education for students Pre-K through grade 12. Waterford is an award-winning school district having earned Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards, performing and visual art awards and inclusion on the Advanced Placement Honor Roll. In addition to nine K-5 elementary schools, the District provides a nationally accredited early childhood program at Stepanski Early Childhood Center. Four of Waterford’s elementary schools are Leader in Me schools, including one of only 4 Lighthouse Schools in the State of Michigan. Waterford offers a wide range of advanced placement and honors courses, performing and visual arts programs, career and technical education, along with dual enrollment college opportunities as well as Waterford STEM Academy for grades 9-12. Waterford offers world language classes K-12, which includes elementary Spanish. All of these excellent educational opportunities are presented in schools with ever-changing interactive technology that have also undergone extensive safety and security enhancements and facility improvements. The diverse student population of the district provides a rich real world learning experience for all students.
 
The Michigan Association of School Boards has the privilege of facilitating the search process. Over the course of the next several weeks, a comprehensive candidate profile will be developed by the Board of Education that incorporates stakeholder input. The new superintendent is expected to assume his or her responsibilities no later than July 1, 2019. A compensation package commensurate with skill and experience will be offered; a base salary range will be published in the coming weeks.
