Position Details: 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of three years of leading custodial, maintenance, or skilled trades crew(s).
  2. Proven experience managing and leading in a professional work environment.  
  3. Experience with effectively managing budgets and resources in the public setting.

Reports to: Superintendent

Supervises: All custodians, maintenance, grounds employees and appropriate third party service contractors/employees.

Job Goal: To provide successful and consistent leadership, management, collaboration, and coordination in the area of the maintenance/custodial services of Boyne City Public Schools.

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates schedules and special event operations for the purpose of ensuring the required facilities preparation and post-event clean-up. 
  2. Develops long and short-range maintenance plans/programs (e.g. emergency response plans, energy management plans, annual budget, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that district resources are effectively utilized. 
  3. Directs projects (e.g. site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completion within established time frames, project design and budget. 
  4. Regularly, personally performs routine maintenance work.  Practical experience with HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for large buildings.  
  5. Primarily responsible to manage the HVAC on-line control systems affecting all school buildings. 
  6. Inspects new construction, repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently; and approving inspection reports and payment requests. 
  7. Monitors budget balances of assigned programs and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed. 
  8. Ensures all inspections and notices are current. For example pesticide application notification to parents and legal leg work involved. Following state regulations 
  9. Coordinates with the superintendent all bids for snow removal and fuel for approval. 
  10. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. 
  11. Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing the productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget. 
  12. Recommends new hires, promotions, termination, and transfers for the purpose of maintaining staffing needs and productivity of the workforce. 
  13. Researches new products, laws, regulations, etc., for the purpose of recommending purchases, contracts and maintaining districtwide services
  14. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and or his/her designee or as needed to full-fill the overarching needs of the District.

Terms of Employment: Contract starts December 2, 2019
