The Board of Education of Cassopolis Public Schools, Cassopolis, MI is seeking a superintendent for an opportunity in a progressive school district. The former superintendent will be retiring after 29 years in the district, the last 5 of which he served as superintendent.
Cassopolis is a rural school district located 45 minutes southwest of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The District is diverse in student population, has 965 students, and our enrollment has been increasing the past two years.
Cassopolis is a base foundation district but has a high degree of free and reduced students at 62% district-wide. The total district budget is approximately $9.8 Million with a current 15% fund balance. We also accept in-county and out-of-county Schools of Choice students and the number of our non-resident district students has also increased in recent years.
In 2015, Cassopolis passed a $3.3 Million bond that is being used for many upgrades to our junior/senior high school, as well as some improvements to our elementary building. The elementary building was constructed through another community bond and opened for students in 2011.
Improvements made with the 2015 bond include security, technology, technology infrastructure, tuck-pointing, energy efficiency through new windows and doors, and major improvements to the football field and track.
