Position Details

Onaway Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Elementary Intervention Specialist to support our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and help every student reach their full potential. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about using data-driven instruction, building strong relationships, and collaborating with teachers and families to ensure student success. This position plays a vital role in providing targeted academic interventions for students requiring Tier II and Tier III support while working closely with classroom teachers to accelerate student learning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, research-based instruction to individual students and small groups.
  • Deliver Tier II and Tier III interventions based on student assessment data and identified learning needs.
  • Utilize assessment and progress monitoring data to plan instruction and measure student growth.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement effective intervention plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, intervention services, and progress monitoring.
  • Participate in MTSS meetings and contribute to data-based decision-making regarding student support.
  • Assist in identifying students for intervention services through universal screening and diagnostic assessments.
  • Administer diagnostic assessments as needed to guide instructional planning.
  • Support the continued development and implementation of intervention programs and best practices.
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities focused on student achievement and instructional improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or their designee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • LETRS Training or willingness to complete training.
  • Experience working within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Experience delivering Tier II and Tier III academic interventions.
  • Experience using student assessment data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Experience collaborating within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Experience supporting both academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional learning and growth.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative school environment.
